The theater had 1,400 seats and was noted for being built without a stage. The first film was shown in November 30, 1913. In 1952 Gamble and O'Keefe of Los Angeles took over the Kinema Theater and changed its name to Rivoli but only a few laters was torn down in December 1957. The Merced Store was built on that location.
