Hampton sold his site and store holdings of the town called Hamptonville near San Joaquin River to a railroad developer named Marcus Pollasky. Mr. Pollasky who was building a 27 mile railroad from Tulare Street in Fresno to this location. The original plan was for the railroad to be the beginning of a transcontinental railroad through the Sierra Nevada mountains. The railroad never went past the town then called Pollasky, CA.
