Description An account of the resource A 1923 photograph of the townsite office for Pinedale, California. In June 1923 the Sugar Pine Lumber Company mill was completed on property donated to the lumber company on the south bluff of the San Joaquin River north of Fresno in the Fig Garden Tract. East of this mill site a new town was developed named Pinedale. Pinedale was developed by the Gorham Land Company of Santa Monica. The majority of owners in this new town were workers at the new mill. Fresno's streetcar system extended a branch to the mill site providing transportation for workers from Fresno to the mill. At the time Pinedale was expected to grow to a population of 5,000.
